It has been just over eight and a half months since I last posted something on this little slice of digital land. Some things have changed in those months. Let us do a quick review of what has happened so far.
I am now working with a local newspaper called the Platte County Record-Times. The Record-Times is based in Wheatland, WY, and is the most subscribed paper in the county. The PCRT covers events from Glendo to Chugwater, but most of my work has been within Wheatland itself.
I hope to start an anthology titled “From the PCRT Archives,” to showcase some of the work I have done at the paper. The work will include the article which was published plus additional content like photos or audio interviews. I’ve included audio and photos before, so it should simply be a matter of relearning the process. While I do try my best to adhere to AP style, these articles could have a few mistakes within them.
Along with newspaper pieces, I hope to start creating some original works. I am currently unsure of what these could be. My thoughts at the moment are leaning me towards incorporating my personal hobbies with something else. I could also include visual, audio, or video. My concern is if it comes across as tacky, niche, or otherwise unprofessional. We will have to see.
There will also be some changes to the website’s façade coming. I am slowly becoming a professional and the site needs an overhaul. Some of the site’s text for when it was used for university purposes is no longer needed. Language will be changed and I will see about switching some photos too.
I feel uncertain about this overhaul, yet I believe it is needed. It is time began making a better transition to professionalism. I am still proud of my old work and it still has a purpose if I want to expand my skill set or revisit old techniques. However, certain things to adjust and this is one of them. Here is to good things for the future.
