Oil City Unusuals: 2022 Crusin’ In Casper Car Show and Auto Cross, Part 2

This is the second part of my Crusin’ in Casper Autocross and Car Show The first post focused on more American makes and models and what could be considered muscle cars. This second part will highlight the vehicles that have been more customized, what I may have wrongly called “exotics” in my first post. What are these cars? Are they tuners? For now, maybe we call them customizable.

Back in my article about the Gremlin Motorsports car show in Torrington, I quoted myself from another blog about the 2022 Blue Mountain Car Shop asking why we like cars. Listening back to the interviews I did during the car show, I think I have one possible answer: cars are canvases on which people express themselves. No matter if it’s something boisterous or controlled; a lot or a little; or a GMC, BMW, or Honda. I would hazard a guess that for a dedicated motorhead, how you treat your car and what you do with it is some reflection of yourself. Even restoring a car back an original state is art in a manner of speaking. It is a preference of something from a specific time and not a personal preference.

This will be the last of the photo heavy stories hopefully for a little bit. I hope that the photography hasn’t been too heavy. It is the nature of these kinds of events. I have designs for the For Collins Comic Con on the August 27 and 28 weekend which will be big. In the meantime though, there will be some more from the PCRT archives and some original reporting about a local figure.
